A Broke Baker started in 2019 — not with a business plan, but with a passion that refused to stay in the background.

Fresh out of university with an accounting degree I wasn't quite sure what to do with, I found myself doing what I'd always actually loved: baking. What started as a hobby page — random experiments, late-night bakes, photos of whatever came out of the oven — slowly became something more serious.

The real turning point came when a neighbour suggested I try making New York-style bagels. At the time, nobody in Lahore was making them properly. Real bagels — hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, with the right crust and chew — simply weren't available in the city. I saw the opportunity and got obsessive about it: testing, tweaking, refining the recipe until it was exactly right.

Word got out. Our first commercial contract followed. And A Broke Baker went from a hobby to a real business.

Today we bake and deliver across Lahore — bagels, sourdoughs, focaccias, babkas, pretzels, brownies, and more. Everything is made fresh, in small batches, by hand. No commercial shortcuts. No factory processes. Just proper artisan baking, baked the night before and at your door by 10am.

We're not trying to be the biggest bakery in Lahore. We're trying to be the one you trust most.
